1943 S 50c clipped

I have regular US collections too. Looking to upgrade my Walkers and saw this one. Looks like it had a tiny clip that didn’t fill rim. Any thoughts appreciated. I’ll add a pic of the regular rim away from the area

    Stain I think,maybe ink. They used pen and ink back in the day. Might give it an acetone bath

    Yes, I was thinking to same thing with an acetone bath. It looked like some kind of lamination peel or crack.

    The clip is a rim or disc clip -

    notice the reeding is almost
    full in that area - I think the
    term disc clip is correct, imo.

    I questioned what looked like damage?
    I think it depends on what the surfaces look like?
    But from the photos given it does look like a clip.
