can you get coins graded for free?

As usual, I missed the boat. And most of the coins I want to send in are Sicilian and Italian.

ANACS & ICG have these $10 + postage specials several times a year. ICG puts the specials on their website. ANACS has a neat twist making some think that 2 coins are free! ICG uses the $10 rate at coin shows. I have heard from "volume" customers that NGC and probably ALL the services have rates lower than $10 and some services charge different rates for different grades for "bulk." IMO, that's like "pay for the grade." Possibly a chance for conflict of interest?

Edit: The reason I opened this thread was to see if anyone mentioned that Mezak often includes five free coin certifying forms with some of his products on holidays. Of course, if you pay the Mezak price for his coins, you are not really getting those forms for free, now are you?

There are those of us who went to work at the age of 14 while the rest had the luxury of going to school. Well bully for you English majors ! Did you ever stop to think that we are dealing with people where English is their second language , and frankly I think the majority do very well at getting their point across. Not everyone here was taught English from day 1.

If you first verified that the OP was a native English speaker your comments might be appropriate. If you assumed he was there is a trope about that. Your pet peeves appear to be grammar and spelling. Mine is anyone who shuts down communication over trivialities. Skeptics who assume they need to weigh in and shut things down are the absolute worst in my not so humble opinion. I prefer to hear the entire story and make up my own mind.

 

That's another peeve of mine. If coin talk puts up the feed and I have an opinion I will express it. I am talking to the OP and everyone who reads the thread. Actually you are a twofer. You hit two of my favorite annoyances in one post. congratulations.
