I wanted to just see your opinion

When examining at different ways it's almost similar to a small date over large date

There is no such thing as a small date over large date 1982 Cent. It's either small or large. Yours is definitely a large date.

    What's the difference between these
Other than the no D of course

notice that the 2 on the '82 from Philly has a curve on the downward diagonal part. The '82 D has a straight diagonal.

No "D" .. also means it's from the Philadelphia mint.

once upon a time, the Philadelphia Mint was the *only* Mint for US coinage. So, there was no reason to identify which Mint the coins were made, as there was only one Mint. This the reason, even today, no mint mark means Philadelphia.

Can anyone tell me the value of 82 D small date. (Got a good link?) After seeing all these post about people thinking they have one I went through my change & living in Colorado all I got is D's. I got one now that I think looks like a small date too, just sucks it's in avg condition compared to some very nice 82s that I found.

Anyways don't trust the stuff I see on eBay.

  12. Hey, say I have acquired this penny would someone say to auction it or where would you sell it?

I do have a 1982, actually three or four that are 1982-D pennies that weigh 2.5 grams, and the "2" in the date is very narrow and skinny like an S, plenty of room until the edge, and the oddest thing is there is a ton of doubling on the reverse, on "E Plurbis Unum", and the one is odd atleast the "O" in one is odd, and about the "O" there is another "0 with a metal spot in the middle followed by another in the middle of the memorial above that. This penny ABSOLUTELY is in MS state, and IS A SMALL DATE! This penny weighs 2.5 grams give or take a few 100ths... Can anyone help

  15. or could be rhetorical, and I may be very helpable... But thanks. If anyone is serious about coins, let me know what you think. I look at coins daily, and have for years. I dont claim to be helpless, maybe not a seller of sorts. Although I do try to know what I am looking at and am pretty sure about this coin. My collection is put up for my 2 sons, but here recently considered selling some of the pieces...

  16. Check out the pictures. I don't sell, I am just a collector. Everyone can be helped, I mean just imagine if someone did find this rare coin and you could help them sell it and make some cash. We could both be helpful and helpless at the same time...

    Ways to te

I think if I read some other threads correctly the Copper 1982 D would weigh 3.1 grams. Zinc's weigh 2.5. while it looks like the D in United had some chipping doubt that effected the coins weight by .6 or any other wear the coin shows.

The previous poster is correct. Copper Cents weigh 3.11 gms and the copper plated zinc cents weigh 2.50 gms. Denver minted slightly over 6 Billion cents in 1982. You have one of them
