I'm trying to ID this bronze coin. I don't know which is the obverse/reverse or even the correct orientation. It looks like there might be some Latin letters under the line on the "obverse" and maybe some Kharosthi letters on the opposite side? The coin is about 16 mm and weighs 2.4 g. Can anyone point me in a productive direction? Thanks.
I'm pretty sure I've found it! A quadrans from Cadiz/Gadiz, with Hercules on the obverse (rotate it 45 degrees counterclockwise) and a dolphin/trident on the reverse. Here's a few of them. They only seem to show up in Spanish auctions.
That is definitely it. I can't imagine how you tracked it down. Now that I know what it is, I can sort of see the dolphin. But Herakles? Thank you, Severus Alexander!
