Today's new pickup is another Greece pickup, this sharp 1917 (1918 I think by the time it released) one drachma note. These are often called fractional notes due to their smaller size but are of course whole numbers. Nice white paper pop against the varied colors front and back, I like it...
I’m a coin guy and not a paper currency collector. But I got this bill somewhere recently in change and I try to look at the serial numbers of bills before I spend them on halves. I don't know what this pattern is called, but the numbers are “symmetrical”. The bill is not in the best of shape. Is it a keeper?
Even though the serial isn't unique enough to command a premium, and the condition isn't the best, it's still interesting. I would keep it.
2013 series, nothing special. Even in almost-UNC it's just a face value note in my opinion. Always looking for a low number here and there. I still don't even have any star notes, and I've been gathering hundreds of notes over the last several months.
Wow!... I started collecting basic US coins just over a year ago and just decided to start collecting Paper bills. I was mostly interested in Civil War era stuff. While pursuing that, I found a 2013 $20.00 star & a 2009 $1.00 star.
Excellent! I plan to frame this as a conversation piece. I know it's outside of the conversation... just wanted to share.
A friend recently went on holiday to Vietnam and I asked him to bring me back some coins. He got there and told me that they do not use coins anymore, everything is paper notes. So he got me one of each type of bank note in circulation. Total face value/cost was about $30 USD. Here is a 2000 dong note with Uncle Ho on the face, of course.
