I read about the date errors. But one looks like. A clad error. Am I right. Can’t figure. Out how to get them out of the plastic holders either lol.

There should be a thin line seam running along the edge of those holders. All ya gotta do is insert an 'exacto' or a sharp pen knife into that seam to exploit it.....

It would be helpful if you could explain what you mean by a "clad error". There was a design change in 1979 on the SBA dollars resulting in what many refer to as a near date and far date. The actual change was to the rim. See this for more info:

In the first uncased picture the coin on the left has a copper color ring all the way around the edge. it is not that way on the back.

Most of us call it toning.

Not when it's also on the outside of the 2x2 snaplock. Want to see what would happen with a good soak in pure acetone? I do...

Not wishing to start a argument but the toning was still on the coin after it was removed from the holder. Calling on @Fred Weinberg, @ddddd et al

Also, IMO all coins appear to be the far date variety. On the near date (wide rim) the I in Liberty touches the rim and tha first # in the date touches the rim. If I'm wrong I don't mind being corrected. That helps me learn. Thank you.

I think the point BSIII was trying to make was that the the snaplock also shows evidence of staining. You can see it in the first post. There is a good chance that whatever left the stains on the holder also left the residue/toning on the coin. And if it's just resdue, acetone may remove it. hope this helps

It may seem to appear that there are 4 separate SBA dollars here. Unless its just me and I am on a different "page" than others here. There are only 3 different SBA's.

Keep in mind my youth and inexperienced view.
To me when [I spy with my tiny eye] I can see these coins differences. Considering the quality of pictures:
One has a die chip on the mintmark... perhaps a defective punch
One has toning AT? NT? Before or after infiltration through the crack in the case?
One has what looks like a doubled profile. (I know that is not the right term..) Also looks like it weighs more?. (You can call me crazy;))
I like learning..so I wanted to comment to see what everyone says. :)
Edit: To add "coin looking like it might weigh more"

Thank you all for your replies. I will see if the staining on the quarter can be removed with acetone. There are only 3 coins. I thought 1 was a wide edge and one was a narrow edge . the wide one being the one nextto the stained coin and the one on the left in picture 2.

I kinda like the "toning" on the one..

It could be that the toning was caused by tobacco or being in something like a tool chest. It may come off with acetone or it might not. Either way, it's not a coin with much (if any) premium. I'd leave it as-is and keep it as a memento from the dad of the original poster.
