Best of today's nickel hunt—a '26 buffalo. Worn but readable. No mint mark. But I'll take that. 1926 buffalo nmm.jpg

    Did a quick run today:
2 boxes of heavily marked halves gave up:
    46P Walker, 65P 40%er, 85S Proof, and a gold plated

Box of quarters from the same bank gave up:
    1989 Canadian 25c
and.....14 (FOURTEEN!) American Memorial "W" Quarters. That brings my total W's to 3x Lowell and 33x American Memorials.

Hmm. It must be said that the Roll-X tubes have some pretty nice copper in them. Not every piece but a few in every roll.
Mixed in with 69-73 that I rarely ever keep.

Peace dollars, Morgan Dollars and such were distributed by the mint via bags, not rolls. For people new to the hobby, remember this at will save you much time and money when dealing with EBay and others. Banks did put them into rolls later but they got them via Mint bags. HH!

The "Old Rock Hound" picked up two (2) West Point mint American Memorial Park quarters in "mixed" machine rolls from my bank on June 10th.

0C8B45C6-DBE2-4114-95BB-D04D6AC85079.jpeg Searched 4 rolls today. Found 2 Lowell W’s and 2 amp quarters wit a ring around the front I’m guessing stamped through from the back. Somebody please tell me what that is called, and is it a mint error?

That's from the rolling machine. Just damage. Congrats on the 2 Lowell "W"s. I still need 1 more.

The "rings"you are referring to is post-mint damage. The scratches on the front of each coin were made by the coin rolling machine.

It's unfortunate and frustrating when a collectible coin is found with these scratches.
