Wasn't going to post this but what the heck. It should be insured.. This should be posted out on Monday for next day delivery, so should get it Tuesday. Whaddon Star gold stater of the Catuvellauni tribe of Hertfordshire No more details at present. Watch this space. I don't think that Celtic will become a habit. I might look for a nice silver coin to keep it company. Got a couple of potin Senonnes, nothing to write home about.
Beautiful OP coin. Celtic is one of those areas I keep meaning to get into, but never quite do. I'm going to have to dedicate one year to nothing but Celtic coins if I'm ever going to break into it. Perhaps next year...
Wow, @Pishpash , fantastic Stater!!! Wow! Great Celtic horse, really like the devices... is the horse leaping over a Star? Cool!
Not sure about anything yet. It is supposed to be a gold stater, got it from Chris Rudd, he knows his stuff.
that is beautiful Pish...i was watching about the Celts yesterday on a BBC presentation with Alice Roberts & Neil Oliver... too kool for school!.
Jumpin' Jeeeeeehosephat! Pish went and struck gold! I'd trade my beard and britches for something that sweet to fall into my pan!
Very nice addition @Pishpash, I have a soft spot for Celtic coins myself but have not yet acquired a piece from the British Isles =)
Coin arrived bang on time as expected today and I have to say that in hand, it does not disappoint. It has the ABC reference with it, however this has been modified. I may well write back to the firm asking for clarification. I do like the fact that these coins could have been minted to pay Rome. Keeps the Roman connection for me. Will add more if I find out. Husband suggested I could have it made into a necklace. The look I gave him could only be described as abject horror. I don't think he will suggest that again.
You could have a jeweler take an impression of the coin and make a cast copy to use for the necklace . Congrats on the cool coin, Pish!
