i think you are just seeing split plating issues. Zincolns are notorious for the 8 micron copper plating getting stretched. If the dies are not perfectly NEW then this will occur more often than not. Remember, a DD will not "move" in all directions. Liberty had marks to the left. The date had marks to the right. The letters above had marks above them in a circle from die deterioration.
What you see is caused by a worn die and a coin that is copper coated on Zinc, a very poor metal for minting.

It will show up but not if you are still looking at worthless doubling. Do you have any references so that you can compare your finds to real DDO's and DDR's.
