I have a copy of some coin software I bought about 8 years ago for my laptop, and it is awkward to use. I have an app on my Kindle that works well, but I'd really like something for the laptop, since I can't print reports or lists off my tablet. And the software should be able to run on Windows Vista (yes, I know my OS is getting old, but so am I, and I hate the thought of updating all my other programs). Does anyone have any suggestions? I need the software to be able to print any reports, and allow me to enter vital stats such as grade, purchase price, the ability to connect to the internet and maybe even hook up to live auctions. It should be able to prefill certain information and have a comment section plus a field for notating where the coin is located. So do you use coin inventory software and how has it worked for you?
You can download CoinManage for a trial period to see if you like it. I did that. It has a lot of functionality, such as looking up coin values and valuing your collection. Now I am using Excel myself. But I usually just write my own software so I wouldn’t take my switch to Excel as relevant to what you want.

Excel here too. I'm an accountant so I'm a bit anal about this. I record the coin name, where and date purchased, amount paid, brief description. I also include a photo of the coin. If nothing else, I do this for insurance purposes.
Thanks for your recommendations. I have to say, however, that I can't see Excel having the full functionality I want. The software I have now, Pro-Coin. accesses links to ongoing auctions within it, and also displays spot prices. It does allow me to export information to Excel. The problem is, it isn't user friendly, which is why I never used it very much. I just opened up the program and looked for how I got to the spot price information and couldn't find it, but I know it's there. Yes, I could do my own thing, but time is not on my side, and off-the-shelf programs are fine with me.
