I know this coin is damage due to circulation but I see a double tail/feather im sorry grandson best lense broke couldn't get better detail photo year 1997
look at the same spot on the right of the eagle is flat but the left side is not if you look long enough you can probably see just about anything. It looks like something was wrong in the mix metal did not form properly and remember don't clean your coins if you plan on selling them. I posted 3 1997 that had major damage it was a bad year for Quarters maybe we should have a contest to see who has the worst 1997 Quarter.
I see numerous contact/bag marks from it being in circulation. It's also stained (at a minimum) in that area No doubled tail, from what I can see......sorry
It didn't matter it was damaged already so I just wanted to show people if they can see what I see lol
Here is something to remember during your search for errors and varieties. It's very difficult to confirm a real error on a beat up coin since the damage can hide or mimic what you think you see. Best thing to do is avoid the beat up coins until you have a good understanding of the minting process and how errors occur. Not saying you can't find errors on heavily damaged coins, it's just very hard to tell the difference if you're a new collector Hope this helps
