    Check this out folks. Here is a 1970 S vs a 1971 D. Look at their faces. I think this is cool.

    Modifications were made to many coins over the years, including the Lincoln cent. Not everyone notices them though. Some mods were made to improve the look and some were made to make the dies last longer or to protect other devices in the design. A good example is the 1913 Buffalo nickel on the mound and on a plain, done to protect the date from premature wear.
