2000D South Dakota State Quarter

  1. I was given a 2000 Commemorative Quarters Platinum Set (Novelty set) and noticed aan odd quarter. What would cause this? The dimples are solid and not air pockets. 2000 south carolina.jpg 2000 south carolina2.jpg

We need a clear crisp sharp photo -

but based on what I see in the blurry
shot, it's glue or some other substance
    on the surface.

Can't tell much more till we get better pics.

That is what I would consider Laminated.. With some clear hardened liquid substance.

  5. Sorry about the photo quality, here's another shot. I bet you're correct about the lamination! 2000 south carolina 3.jpg

There are very bored and evil people out there that like to alter coins in this manner.. Why? Because they can.

I stated Laminated as a joke. There is an actual mint error called a Lamination which is different. Two different meanings ;)
