New to coin collecting again. Showed this to a coin store owner and asked about getting it graded. He said most likely it will just be "confirmed as authentic." Any thoughts? Think it's worth spending the money even if just confirmed. Thx

Sorry, but your photos are rather poor quality, making it hard to tell if it says V.D.B. on the reverse, or what condition the coin is in.

You don't need to authenticate it, its not really a coin worth counterfeiting, you can purchase them in XF condition for 15$ or 16$ you will pay more to grade it. but if it means something to ya. sure. actually I just looked again very inexpensive. My mistake sorry dident see the S

He said it was an S, VDB. That would make it quite desirable. I cannot make out the VDB on the reverse. If in fact the VDB exists then yes, that would be a coin of value.

It's one of the most valuable/sought after cents in the series. According to auction records, coins in the same date and condition sell for about $500-600ish.

Even the 1909 S w/o VDB is a very valuable coin

There are a lot of counterfeit 1909-S VDB. Although, you would expect a counterfeit to be a higher grade. If you want to sell it you should grade it so the buyer knows it is authentic.

It may be worth grading in this condition, if it is authentic.
As this is a highly counterfeited coin and it gives the buyer a
little peace of mind if a TPG says it is real.
I also can't see the VDB a clear and large closeup of the VDB
and the date and S are necessary to see if it is genuine.

Even if it comes back only at "authentic," it has value. Send it to get graded.

It's had a hard life but I would have it graded. Folks worry about buying one of these if it's raw.

In my opinion, it’s very hard to get a decent price for this coin when it’s raw (uncertified) because of the many counterfeits. Certification is worth a shot.
