Hello everyone, I've been searching advice on what is the best way to handle several Head to Head State Quarter Rolls that I have. Some we remembered to write on the roll what state they were when we got them from the bank right when they were released - however we also have several that we're not sure what they are. I purchased those plastic tubes to put them in however I have not yet done so since I wasn't sure if that would take away the value since they were opened rolls. We also tried to make a very fine slice in one of the rolls were we were able to lift just the top quarter to flip it to see what they are. Any advice on how to best handle these rolls. I've searched the forums here and couldn't find any responsed to this topic. Thank you in advance for any advice. Sharon
Chances are they are all the same state if you got them on or after their release times. Head to Head rolls are not uncommon. All coin is rolled after they leave reserve banks at the distribution centers for banks. How the coin is oriented in the roll is purely random. Even the rolls sold by the US Mint are rolled by a private company with the paper that the US Mint request they be rolled in. We are collectors. We care about condition and presevation of coins we like. The companies that distribute coin don't care how the coin is packaged only how many per package. Note: Make sure your storage tubes don't contain PVC. Good Luck and Keep On Collecting!!! Allen
I missed something important. These modern coins are no more valuable in original rolls then they would be in tubes, well or they shouldn't be. If you question the content of any of these rolls open them, just don't put your hands all over them. Handle then with cotton gloves. Reseach and look for error coins. They will bring the best money if you want to sell. I neither collect errors or sell to make profit, I just collect to have. Allen
