Well...In a small way… While leaving work yesterday I noticed a couple of jars full of pennies next to the door. I asked the boss’s wife about them and she told me she was going to take them to a coin machine and turn them into cash. Looking into the jars I noticed quite a few wheats and a lot of Canadian coins. She said the jars have been in their attic for years. I told her I was interested in looking at them before she dumped them. She then told me to just take them…”Their yours.” Of course I argued but she insisted saying I was saving her a trip. So…I am about half way through them. So far the U.S. coins start at 1909 and the Canadians start at 1920. The most recent date I’ve found from both countries is 1978. The most interesting coins so far are a bunch of 1943 and 1943S steel cents and about twenty Canadian Centennial coins with the dove on the reverse (1867-1967). My knowledge of the cent is lacking so I may have some questions for the forum. I will also be making a list of the coins and printing it here for anyone who might be interested. BTW I did tell her that if I made any great discoveries (yeah right!) that I would let her know and give her the option of taking the coin or coins back. At least this way my conscious will be clear if she refuses.
Now thats what I would call a very nice Lady :hail: I hope that you manage to find a few more nice bits from the jar :kewl:
On the canadians watch out for anything 1923-1926 those are the 'keys' of the canadian penny series. Mostly the 1925 though, and watch out for the 1936 dot too
