Depends on the grader itsnot a clip. Its just a split from the roller press pressing the die. If you view a ton youll notice than half or more have the same splits.it shouldnt affect the grade tho. Mine is believed to have been netgraded to a 45 but it should be in a pcgs au holder i just havent sent it in yet. Non split ones will carry a higher premium tho and do not sit long before being sold. Mine is very round and nicely centered with a strong strike. They dont often look that nice.

@vikinggold, thank you for your comments. The large planchet Pine shilling I posted is a Noe-11 variety. A relatively scarce type, R-4.
The absence of the 'T' is a characteristic of this variety. The Reverse N's on the other hand occurs on other varieties of the Pine Tree shillings as well if I remember correctly.

It’s au and nice. I want a nice example of that and pine tree small and large for myself. Here’s one I owned and sold. Another friend found it in an estate cleanout. I bought it and he immediately bought a gun he was wanting. I drove him to the guys house even. I just couldn’t live with the hole myself

Thanks, @steviegetz - I thought it was a nice one to get, too.
My original intention was to purchase an Oak Tree shilling. However, when I came across this Noe-11 I changed my mind.
I would still like to find a nice(r) Oak Tree some day.

Some people would have hesitated at getting the Oak Tree I posted due to the damage and clipping. Not me. The price was right, and they are just really interesting and historic. Among the most interesting colonial coins to collect, IMO.
I would have kept the Pine with the hole you posted, but that is just me.

I had no problem buying it and selling it but that’s me. I actually keep very little. Make a better dealer than collector in a lot of ways

It just surprised me when I saw the reversed N's on that coin and not on any of the others, and then I noticed the missing T and wondered why no-one else had made any mention of these points. They are really interesting from the historical viewpoint, as well as a nice coin type.
I have only in the last couple of years started looking closer at coin varieties and have managed to get some really nice ones for my collection. My favourites are a collection of 1887 sixpences that I have managed to get in high grades. There are six main varieties and it took some time until I finally managed to get them. The hardest to get in a decent grade was the Jubilee Head Shield type with JEB on the truncation but I have it slabbed as AU58. It has made me pay more attention to coins than ever before, and I am always on the lookout for any unusual variety.
