So, I went to my bank yesterday to cash a couple checks. I had been there twice in the past 2 months and asked if they had any new 2019 quarters. Nope and nope. This time, I was going to cash my checks, and then ask for the quarters again. But, before I could get to that, my teller, who apparently remembered me, said, "Hey, I have some 50 cent pieces for you. Would you like them?" And, as she opened her drawer and touched them, I heard the distinct ringing of silver on silver! "Yes, I'll take all of them!!!" I gleefully responded! I didn't care if she had 2 or 200 in there! She puled out a handful of 50 cent pieces and slid them on the counter. There were only 8, but they all looked kinda really pretty to me! "I think they're all silver." she says as she slid them closer to me. "Yeah, these are awesome! Thank you so much!!!" And, here's what I got for a $4.00 reduction from my checks..... Totally unexpected! I didn't even realize that she put 2 and 2 together and would remember me at all, much less remember me as a collector! I'd say, any day that a random bank teller sets aside silver for me is gonna be a very good day! Anything special on 1965 Kennedys that I should look for, or just be happy that I have them? Still nope on the 2019 quarters, tho. Oh well. Happy weekend, everyone, and happy coin hunting!
Reduction? Looks like you got a nice raise to me. I'd take that 'reduction' every day of the week and twice on Sunday! Nice score and nice making a good lasting impression on the teller
Congratulations! Bring that sweet lady something edible or drinkable the next time you come by. They'll probably even hold stuff for you if you keep them happy.
I wouldn't refer to her as "random" anymore. It looks like you made a friend. I have a few tellers like that. Take her some Christmas cookies.
You're right! It IS a nice raise!! And, I had no idea I made any kind of impression on the tellers at all! Totally shocked!
She did hold these for me! That's what's crazy! I haven't been to the bank in 3-4 weeks! That's a good idea! Candy for the entire crew?!
Yes, just remember that most tellers are not allowed to receive anything of value, so edibles are always the best. When you hand them to your favorite teller, or hand them to any teller and say they're for her but she's welcome to share, you'll increase her standing with her crew and everyone benefits
Thanks for the tips! I'll remember that! Gonna have to find excuses to go to the bank more often! And, remember to bring goodies!
One of my friendly tellers was hoping for a Buffalo Nickel for her daughter. I tried to give her one. She couldn't take it. But, I could cash it in with another teller who could sell it too her. Very technical, they must be aware at all times.
I'd like to add that when I was in grade school and high school you could still get Morgan and Peace dollars at the bank. Not everyday, but quite often. All you needed was a dollar for trade. I got them every chance I got.
