    The nicks and bags marks definitely keep this one from Gem. It looks very evident that the luster isn't an issue.
    With out seeing the coin.
    As @johnmilton said this coin could have hard to see problems.
    I'd like to think that the TPG just miss labeled it. With the recent standards this should be at least a 63.
    It is a perty coin.

    Thank you for the explanation. I simply got out of sorts attempting to guess the grade while following the sequence of three sets of photos. What is impressive is that LuxUnit and his wife will never forget this coin experience.

    By the way, my wonderful wife gave me a VF 1909S VDB our first Christmas as newlyweds over 40 years ago. She has remained supportive of my hobby since. That was not lost on me as I followed this thread.
