1932 Bust 10c Dime

I won this just a few minutes ago. I know it is a very poor grade, but what would you grade this, and what would the value be around? I paid 8.33, is that a bit too much? Thanks

I would grade it a g-4 or Ag-3. I would say 8 dollars was a fair price.

I'd grade it a 4, maybe a 3.75 on a bad day.

8 bucks for a coin that old seems more than fair.

A little too much wear on the reverse for a G-4, should go AG-3.

 

Looks like a nice JR2.

On later stages, just left of the date, there is a cud that develops on the edge/rim due to a broken collar. On some examples, most grades VF+, there is also some roughness in the surface/fields above the date and above the E on Liberty's cap caused by rusty dies.

The EUSD book gives this marriage an R2 but, I don't have a more current JRCS census handy to tell you if that rarity is still accurate.

A piece of history like that for under 10 bucks, can't beat that with a stick.

No, not an error. Just the variety based upon the obverse and reverse die marriage used when the coin was struck. The R-2 is the Rarity Rating which equates to about 500-1000 known.
