Posted this before, but not for this question. Looks like a long, flat object obstructed the second obverse strike. Is it from a feeder finger? I think so. Appreciate all comments. ~Joe Cronin
It looks like a multiple strike, meaning a coin that has been struck an additional time off centered. My guess!!
I will have to leave that one to the experts to answer. I am new and still learning. I will take my 2 cents back.
Hi Imho, Dbl 84 d Roosevelt very cool ! Here’s the definition from (error reference) Definition: A coin struck through a feeder finger will feature a very deep impression, often with vertical walls. The margins of the impression will be concave, straight, or angular. A sharp angle will often mark the corner of a feeder finger. Imho, it’s difficult to tell if it’s concave and vertical in that spot. It does look like a bit of depression. Perhaps a more clear photo of the area in question. I’m leaving this one for the experts! It’s still a new error for me and I have yet to study in hand. Nice find Joe!
It doesn't have the sharp edges you would expect if struck through feeder fingers. Definitely is struck over something, like maybe a piece of sissel.
Maybe not "sharp", but they do have straight edges. I worked with a Columbia press from the Denver Mint, and am familiar with what something looks like if the die hits feed fingers.
