I'm on the fence with this coin, I look at it once and say it's a greaser ( struck through grease),Then I look at it later and say it's just heavily worn. I hope some fresh eyes can help. I do appreciate any help!
Looks heavily worn, in my opinion. There are clear details next to the areas that are worn off. If it was struck on grease, the little details would look worn too. But on this half dollar, all of the details that are lower in elevation on the coin look to be in good condition. At least, when they are protected by other higher/elevated parts of the coin. For example, the rays behind the head of the eagle on he reverse. It's easier for grease to mess up the coin there, and harder to wear them off from the years that it has been in circulation. And since the details that are lower on the coin look to be in pretty good condition, its probably just a heavily worn coin.
Could have been someone's pocket piece carried for a very long time. Some carry them for good luck or to get a piece that looks close to a low grade and rub them with their fingers, sometimes for years.
Looks like a rather nervous fella kept that in his pocket for a few years. I'd say the letters have been worried off
