Hi all, Happy Father's Day weekend to all the CoinTalk dads! Today I detected for 6 hours at Coney Island's Brighton Beach in Brooklyn NYC. What a hunt. I want to start first with the best find of the day.. A 1942 Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollar In about 1 foot of water and 6 inches deep
Nice haul. My wife got me a metal detector a few years ago. Went out a few times and haven't been out in a long time. Your post getting me motivated to give it another go. Thanks for posting.
Those are religious charms called the hand of god. In case you were unaware. If you know that, I apologize for the lesson. Very nice haul.
Awesome @paddyman98 ! You kill it every time you post your finds. I wish I knew the history of that Walker. When it was lost, did it get moved by the waves, etc.
Too cool! Now I want to metal detect! I’m gonna get into sooo much trouble being a part of CT! lol First, CRH...now metal detecting...hmmm green with envy!
I wish I knew also. I did notice some beach errosion today and the majority of the coins were found in the water. I decided to roll up my pants and get into the waves. If only coins could talk.. Like CoinTalk
Look at the condition of that better date Indian Cent. Must of been lost shortly after 1876. What a find!
Funny.. I was so excited about my Silver Half find that I forgot to do the detecting totals I always do with my detecting threads Totals for 6/15/2019 50C - 1 each Silver Half 25C - 49 each 10C - 25 each 5C - 12 each 1C - 94 each 1C - 8 each (PMD) France - 10 Cent Euro 2018 1 Toy Car Misc Metal
Do you plan on treating the 1876 IHC with (Verdi-Care) or similar? If so, images would be appreciated. Edit: Your finds are impressive!
Since I don't know much about coin conservation all I did was soak it in water for a few hours. I'm not planning on submitting it for grading or anything. It's in a 2x2 holder in my detecting finds album!
