First Spouse ?

    Just Curious If Any Of You Might Know Approx. How Many First Spouse Coins Have Been Melted To Date.

    Melted? it would be inpossible for anyone to know for certain. As the price of gold goes up, so does the possibility that the coins get melted.

    Silvertowne alone, by their own admission, has melted close to 10% of the First Spouse gold coins. Check out this thread.

    I am sure others are also melting the coins (or melted them when gold was near or above $1,000/oz.).

    If gold hits 1050.00 they will be melted in large quantity.

    Probably shouldn't say this but I hope so. I don't like those coins so if they get melted, no big thing. I'm just tired of the Mint producing so many different types of coins. Sort of reminds me of what happened to US stamps.
    By the way, I saw at the post office you can now get a stamp with your own picture on them.
