During my entire years of coin collecting, I never encountered such a ship with that long and sophisticated prow and design. It looks Greek, along with the lettering "PONTIK" and BYZA. The coin weighs 7.98 g. Please help ID, if you can. Thanks..
Looks a bit like this no? 3222 Byzantium, Thrace, Autonomous; 3rd Cent. AD; 3,37gr. BYZAN, head of Byzas right wearing crested Corinthian helmet / EΠI ΔΩHMHTΡOC TO B around prow right. Moushmov 3222. http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/greece/thrace/byzantium/Moushmov_3222.jpg The reverse is a bit different though...hmm
Time of Marcus Aurelius 161-180 AD. Thrace- Byzantium. Helmeted head of Byzas right. Moushmov 3220v, but the prow is right not left on the OP coin. See also BMC 57v- page 98.
