So the other day I remembered I had a package that I had set aside a few months back and never really opened, so I opened it and there inside was my Secret Santa gift....

I know, it's almost May...not exactly Christmas, but better late than never.

Moesia Inferior, Marcianopolis. Elagabalus. A.D. 218-222. Æ (26 mm, 10.75 g, 1 h). A.D. 222. Sergius Titianus, consular legate. AVT K M AVPH ANTΩNEINOC, laureate head of Elagabalus right / VP CEPΓ TITIANOV MAPKIANOΠOλIT-Ω-N, Hera standing facing, head left, holding patera and scepter. Hristova & Jekov 6.226.3.14; Varbanov 1459. Attractive multi-hued green patina, small flan flaw on obverse. Nearly very fine.
    From the Big Sky Collection.
Ex Triskeles 19, 337 (buyer never paid).

Yeah, talk about pretty. The coin has a nice size to it, atractive patina, and great style. I absolutely love it. It does have some issues at the 7o'clock mark, namely some signs of former corrosion from some time in the past. I inspected the coin and I don't see any active corrosion, but nevertheless treated with Verdicare for a few days and let it dry out for a few more days before storing it.

Anyway, it is a lovely Secret Santa gift and I am absolutely thrilled to have this in my collection.

Great random April 27th gift :p
Wish I had packages like that sitting around my house haha.
I've been listening to the podcast "History of Rome" and have just passed Elagabalus so your coin is just in time for me :)

Did further research on OP coin, I can now add Ex: Agora Auctions Sale 60, Lot 97 to the provenance, and Moushmov 656 as an additional reference.

This coin also failed to sell at Triskeles or Agora. No wonder I got it as a gift. LOL. Just kidding, I love it and I'm glad it came down to me.

Glad I finally got to properly research the coin. I knew there had to be more to it than the original info I received with it.
