no expert on these, but it looks good.

I expected to see a polished coin, but this one looks like a proof. The rims looks pretty square.

Let's see what someone who actually knows something says...

I am not speaking from a position of knowledge, but it looks plated to me.

After looking online I’m more confused. I see some that exhibit this glossy wet look and some that show luster. I would expect to see some luster on your coin but I don’t know.

Better to stay quiet and have people think you are a fool than open up your mouth and remove all doubt :)

    Yup,
Good point , I just weighed the coin and its within .01 gr. accurate soooooo.
I don't know about this hobby with all the fugazy's and such. I need a new hobby like maybe collecting political buttons like "I like Ike'.
    Thanks for your input.

I’m sure there are fakes in that hobby too. All you can do is educate yourself.

If I am not mistaken, proofs do not usually show luster. As far as being plated, why?

My thinking was that it may have been impaired and plated to resemble a clean proof.. I'm out of my league on this one.

I served at the Embassy in Hong Kong in the 60's and in the main square and market there was a coin shop run by a kindly old gentleman and his 4 ft 1 in. wife.
I happen to mention to him that I was shipping out for Nam and as a parting gift he sold me 20 Trade dollars with chop marks at his cost "said he",slightly worn but all fantastic coins.
These were shipped back to the States and about 18 yrs ago I opened the crate and yup you guessed it. They were all perfect replicas.
His wife was still living in town and I recieved a letter from her after I inquired and She and her Son offered to buy them back however I did not as they reminded me of good times in China and they keep me humble (Kinda).
