I have a 19?? Wheat penny and the back has only ON? The E is barley there , I've looked and looked and can tell if a date was even stamped
Most likely the Die that was used to strike the Cent had debris such as compacted grease in the incused letters and numbers which did not allow them to be formed properly. No need to look anywhere any longer. It's a common occurrence with worn Dies.
It's a struck through debris like I explained in my previous post. Add circulation wear and it's a bad Cent. Nothing major.
