1995 Penny- "TRUST"...misaligned die or double punch or nothing special?

    I thought this penny to be interesting. Any thoughts on what happened to it? I don't want to put a label on it since I'm still learning of course. On the reverse you can also see above the T in CENT the 2 (I believe its called this) die chips. Thanks

    Sorry, your coin is just very heavily damaged. This coin was likely exposed to a thin, and very hot metal rod.

    You know, it might not have even needed to be heated to get the zinc rot, just a little bit exposed.

    I will have to look up zinc rot. I have been reading a lot on types of damage, corroding ect and haven't come across that term but it will help me filter through other coins faster to know what i'm looking at. thanks

    Thanks. I wasn't looking to find that there was value to the coin as much as what happened to it. lol.

    This happens with many Copper Plated zinc cents minted after mid 1982.
