I'm a worrier, which doesn't do a dang bit of good, but I don't freak out or have panic attacks, etc.

I'm really surprised that you dropped that kinda geaters on a (what the hell) coin. Your usually on top of your game. Can't say I've ever saw a MS 68 quarter. I think i would of wanted that coin too.

I agree they will claim its a "mechanical error", (like this changes liability, if I mess up in one of my plants due to a mechanical error I am still responsible for any damages). However, I doubt this will ever get reslabbed as a PF68. WHY would the seller wish to send it back to NGC to be reslabbed? Most likely, this will get resold until the sucker accepts it and does not return to the seller for a refund.

Another black eye to the hobby, but heaven forbid we avoid TPG from having to in any way stand behind their product.

Think NGC would give you some kind of credit. After all don't they stand buy their creds. Lets be fair

Yeah, I misunderstood the OP, I thought he was sending it back to NGC, not back to who he bought it from.

Fair enough sir. However, what will happen to the hobby because of this "mechanical error"? That is my worry. Someone who does not know how to grade will believe the slab, only to be ruined on numismatics when they discovered the error and the fact no one will back up this "certification".

My point is a TPG taking people's money should put in place systems to prevent this, under threat that THEY have to pay the difference. So basically everyone in the hobby now has to pay so that the TPG can maximize their own profits.

Honestly, this is an administrative error and they will correct it and that's all.

I agree, I think they should pay for their own mistakes, but they won’t.

Interesting question, since what you pay for grading depends on the value of the coin, how much DID they charge to grade this dude?

True, a "mechanical error" and they have no liability. It's right their in their guarantee.

Yes they would, they will reholder it for free and pay the shipping.

Mechanical errors are considered obvious. NGC should in the least pull the cert #. I recently got into it with a well known dealer on a misattribution. PCGS ended up buying it from the guy only because I called as the dealer was not gonna pull it. It is now reholdered with correct attribution.

Mechanical error is a big fat lie.
    The grader made a mistake.
The owner of the coin isn't going to send it in to be corrected.
Since he is already trying to sell it for $2250.
He's going to have it reslabbed and sell it for $25?
    People are greedy slobs.
