1977 d quarter error?

    This quarters D is filled in and the "in" is merged together.

    Is this a rare special quarter?

    Couple of things...coins are made of metal and metal has the property that when it is struck with an object (like a hammer) it squishes out (malleable). Also when coins are struck, the dies that are used sometimes get stuff in them and what is called a "filled die" results and the portions of the coin struck from them are blurred and appear filled also. This is pretty much what you have. No real value here except for face value, but interesting to see. Keep looking Eagle Eye :)

    I have the same errors on the same coin. I dont think it’s a post mint error.

    @Teri77 looks more like wear and tear...this is an old thread, you would get more attention by starting a new thread.

    I have the same coin with the same errors as well, in fact the d seems to be slightly leaning to the right

    I have same coin however the N and I on reverse run together. Also on the front right lower side is a gas bubble on rim. Has anyone else found these errors?
