It appears the rims might have been filed a little as well. It's hard to tell on a coin so worn though.

No sarcasm? What? With a premonition of such? And for what reason? Straight question and straight answers........Stop sweating the small stuff. And if you can't take it on the chin at times, you don't belong here.........

IMG_20190607_231119630~2.jpg can anyone help me with this 73 s 25c?
Is it a variety or error?

    Any help is appreciated.

Sarah I am no expert but I do have a copy of the 2012 fifth edition of the Cherrypicker's Guide. There are no listed errors or varieties for the 1973 S proof quarter dollar.

Normally when asking for help on a coin it is custom for the person posting a question to have clear pictures of the obverse and reverse of the coin in question. Then do a bit of research and try to determine if there are known major varieties or errors for the series, date, and mint Mark. Happy hunting!

Also try to identify the particular coin feature that is an error or variety. Thanks!

No Sarah , it is neither from what I can see. The only thing odd is the texture ( little specks, which may be corrosion ~ damage ) and the reddish light, I suspect i from the camera rather than the coin. Jim

Sorry for the poor quality photo, it is the only one on hand, I'm at work on graveyard. I will post better pics when I get home.

The particular feature I am speaking of is the reeding, it looks the same on the reverse.

I have looked on PCGS coin facts, Googled my brains out and even just searched images for a similar quarter. No results or answers so far....

I will take much better pictures when I get home. Even the color in my pic is off, it was just for reference to the reed.

Ok, an update to my question.
I have determined that the reed feature is a characteristic of a the 73 proof, I have found other proofs with the same feature, seems common for a proof.
It being so common would probably be why I could find no mention of it.

Let me know if you would still like to see some better pictures?

IMG_20190610_114403530_BURST001~2.jpg IMG_20190610_124457833_HDR~2.jpg here are better pictures, this is the same quarter I posted originally.

I've been inspecting this this, I've noticed doubling both obverse and reverse mostly in the letter in "Quarter Dollar", the date and "in god we trust".
Do you think this is machine doubling or actual double die?
