Picked this up today and thought it was OK for the price...…...although I have not seen an example with a stop after Rex.....anyone know if this is common or not? Thanks, marbury
About 30 sold examples listed in ACsearch, and yours is the only one with the dot after REX. So, for sure not common.
Told by a German numismatic site that my coin with the punctuation/stop...….is not more valuable than those without...…...Sad Face.
Unfortunately, it is generally true that German coin varieties, such as yours in this case, are not appreciated by collectors in a manner commensurate with their rarity, and do often not carry a premium. This applies even if the variety is very scarce. There are exceptions of course, but they are few and far between. The reason for this has to do with the fact (in my opinion), that german numismatics is just too vast: hundreds of years of history, dozens, possibly hundred of issuing entities, many thousands different coins issues, not to speak about coins issued during many years. This is where German numismatics differs (in my opinion) from those of other countries. Your coin (with the dot) remains rare, though.
