I think He's asking, if someone sends in coins to see if there SMS, do you let someone from the grading company know that you think they are SMS and you want them to verify if they are or if they're not sms

I didn't send them myself, I sent them to a rare coin dealer my grandfather knew in order to get his opinion first, then he told me that he felt very strongly they were SMS and that I needed to have them certified. So He sent them to PCGS for me but I'm not sure if he emailed them telling them to make sure to check for sms characteristics or if he just sent them in like any other coins.

Here's some side by side comparisons of diagnostic die markers of my quarter. Mine is pictured on the left and the quarter featured at PCGS is on the right

Well exactly. If you send the coins in for grading, if they don't specifically know to look for SMS designation, will they just grade the coins and send them back? Is it extra to pay for this attribution? I don't understand why these (were in possession of the mint director) and are worth more than other mint sets. The coins themselves are the same, it's just the provenance?

Theoretically no. But when dealing with very subtle things it is always best to note them or in this case submit them as an SMS to be on the safe side.

Same price as it's not a variety or error

I don't know if it's just me being to hopeful or excited but to me almost every single die marker is exactly the same.. what do y'all think?

The halves looked like a match, and most of these images look the same.

Man I'm so glad you said that lol.. I thought maybe my eyes were just seeing what I wanted them too see. But I appreciate you taking the time to look at them and letting me know what you thought.

I don't know why you never posted a clear photo of the 4 in the date! On the reverse of the half, there should also be a similar die line running from the middle serif of the F in HALF to the D in DOLLAR. Here's a closeup of the Dangling 4 on (almost all of) the 1964 SMS half dollars:

Good luck and keep us posted on your submission!

    Best Regards,

Hey George, I did post a pic, its on the first page closer towards the bottom of the page.. it's not very clear but it's the best I could do with this phone hah. Just scroll down, the 4 has a red circle around it. You can make it out but i had to zoom it in so much that's its blurry.

We probably won't hear anything. He hasn't posted anything since Oct. 1, 2018
