From time to time, I like to purchase modern coins just to revive memory of old days when I was a beginner and collector of US and World coins. In fact, I need to grade this Morgan dollar dated 1890. Just your opinion. Thank you.
Either the coin is photographed in such a way that there is no evident luster or the coin is truly as dull as the picture suggests, which is way worse Good details with some pitting, no luster = grade of "Meh".
It sure needs something! I used to like to try to grade Morgans, but most of the time they look like yours. So, I quit trying. I'm not the best photographer by any means, but at least I can show luster when it is present. Chris
Looks like an AU details coin to me. Photographs are not good, but there are circulation marks, and what looks like a cleaning. This is all irrespective of luster—I’d assume that there is more than the pictures show, but clearly circulated.
This isn't the holy bible of Morgan dollars but is pretty good for beginners: https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/how-to-grade-morgan-dollars-768394
