Picked up the last four of theses coins sitting in the roll at the bank! Best of all they are already up in value. It is the first circulated 10 Euro coin made with polymer. The mint is only making 1.5 million. 20190608_105942.jpg IMG-20190608-WA0014.jpeg

This is the first of three series.
It's a clear polymer of sorts. Kind of like the material a glock handgun is made out of. It seems like it would be fragile, but the material is actually very durable. It should makenit hard to actually fake this coin......at least I hope so!

speaking of Glocks here is my new Glock 19 9mm Gen5. I have nicknamed her "Bella". Amazing gun. Easy to clean and never jams.

Yes she is a beauty! I miss my hand guns. But yes that should be the same indestructible polymer that your glock is made with. Very acurate pistol right out of the box! Bella is a bad lady!

While I am absolutely not into guns, I have and like that €10 coin too. Such collector coins, however, are not made for circulation but for, well, collectors. ;) But I like the idea of that polymer ring. Before this piece (with the transparent ring) a series of €5 coins was started in 2016 - with colored rings, and a theme focus on climate and Earth's climate zones.

Next year's €10 coin by the way will still have a transparent polymer ring, but the outer ring will have a bronze color:

Not really fond of the design (what will they do in 2021, a blank "image" side? :D ) but others may like it ...

In Der Luft.......what is that commemorating?

The one that came this year was the first in a series called Luft bewegt. That would be "air moves" (with moves being a verb). The series is about sports where you are moved by the air/wind. The eagle side, designed by Andre Witting, will be same for all issues.

The 2019 coin (In der Luft = "in the air") is about paragliding. The image side was designed by Natalie Tekampe. The 2020 coin (An Land = "ashore") will be about land sailing or sand yachting, and designed by Andre Witting.

So I suppose the 2021 piece will somehow feature the sea. :) Every issue in this series comes from all five mints (A, D, F, G, J) by the way.

"PS" - As for the value, well, do not expect much. I just checked the Bundesbank website, and of the branch offices in my state (NW), Dortmund, Düsseldorf and Essen still have the 2019 pieces and "sell" them (regular unc version) at face ...

Thanks Christian, for the detailed answer.......I was hoping that this design didn't involve the island of Crete......

Hehe, no - but a few months ago the Austrian Mint issued a €20 collector coin dedicated to the "The Dream of Flying" ... and that one features Icarus, wearing wings constructed by Leonardo da Vinci. :)
