Picked these up as well. For those following, I was able to get my hands on a few unique coins recently.

194x-S Dime partially splitting planchet. Striations visible where peeled.
Any ideas what else is going on with the obverse?

1943 Dime cracked and splitting planchet (labeled as such).
This one looks like it might of had some assistance opening up. Or is this able to happen on its own? I assume it would have more wear on the sharp parts if it was like that from the mint.

Also, with the ‘43, if I were to have this slabbed would it come back as altered possibly?

The 1943 planchet split error is pretty wild. Nice.

I've been a Mercury dime enthusiast forever but I've never seen anything like the '43. Thanks for posting.

Question for the experts: what would cause an otherwise monolithic silver blank to split like that?

While I am no expert, I heard that lamination errors are caused by impurities in the coin blanks. Maybe such splits are also caused by similar reasons.
