    Hey everyone,

While reviewing the Roman provincial coins of Didyma, I encountered one whose mint was indicated as "Cycicus".

Does anyone know where this mint is located?

    Thank you for your help!

You mean "Cycicus" is just another name for "Cyzicus"?? It seems pretty distinct to me...

    Also spelled Kyzikos

Yes David, but I'm assuming the author (Hans Baldus) couldn't have made a typo and written "Cycicus" instead of "Cyzicus". So "Cycicus" must be another place different from Cyzicus/Kyzikos... Or you're right and Cycicus is really a typo...

I've never actually seen that spelling and assumed it was an old version of Cyzicus. I believe it is the same city, the ANA has an article that mentions that old spelling.

I will look further into it and write here if I find anything more. Thank you very much for your time, sir.

I don't think the author can be referring to a city other than Cyzicus since the coin he references - RIC 233 - is presently attributed to Cyzicus. I've never seen the spelling that he uses either.
