Why would you want to conserve this coin? It's a common date and mint. You can find a much better example for $10. Also, your coin will never make AU. It looks cleaned, and isn't even XF. The coin is worth melt value, either way.
No, this will not grade A.U. Too much of the design is worn away. Plus it has been cleaned/polished at some point.

Stop looking at how shiny the coin is and pay attention to what details are left on the coin. That’s how you determine grade.
