I am sorting through a friend's coin collection, this is one of the few in it that may be worth grading. He keeps his coins in a sandwich back loose.... Any thoughts or opinion on grade?
They minted over 12 million of these. In this condition, while nice, it's circulated so there's no real value if it's graded. In other words, no as the grading costs far exceed the value of the coin.
Thank you. I had to get another opinion to help with breaking the news to him. When he handed me the sanfsand bag, I almost fainted from the handling of these coins! He had so many great coins destroyed due to the way he stored and handled. Almost wanted to smack him!
I like your spunk , I've seen it come through several times. Kudos for that, Good Luck with the coins, and Thanks for posting.
to help break "the news "to him you could do this type of reference. Keep in mind the numbers (values) are for graded coins, as his are not graded. And of course it's for "display" purposes as values change all the time. This website is good to see general value based on condition https://www.usacoinbook.com/coins/dollars/morgan/ such as for your morgan shown But if he questions the "condition" then this website is invaluable for comparison https://www.pcgs.com/photograde#/Morgan/Grades with an example is similar comparison now just for argumentative let's say his is a VF20 with the above chart that would put him at $36. But the $36 is for a graded coin (after someone has spent $50 to get it graded). So in RAW condition it is worth less than $36.
