Hi Imho, it looks like it took a hit on the rim and pushed the metal down at sometime during its years of service
Yup. My mind was thinking that initially but I figured I’d be able to see under it or see a space between it and the coin. I, just now, took a knife tip to it and it moved. Okay good, I didn’t want to be a millionaire anyway, lol! Thanks.
No 12 sided Nickel gets left behind! These ain’t plentiful in the coin roll hunt. I only found 3 in the last couple of batches, almost as good of odds as finding Jeffersons. The ‘49 fills an empty slot in the collection.
It's interesting. The first photo makes it look like a small cud. The second photo makes it look like a cracked planchet. The third photo makes it look like damage. It's minor. I think the knife tip may have been the wrong way to go, but it's not a valuable coin. There's nothing not to like about a 70 year old nickel found in circulation.
Was just checking coinsandcanada and it looks like you possibly have the “ die clash in front of the beavers head” http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?coin=5-cents-1949&years=5-cents-1937-1952 Pic, curtesy of coinsandcanada Great filler!
I was so fixated on the other business that I didn’t realize what else was staring me in the face. Yup, I think you be right, thanks.
