prior to getting the book and finding the two answers as written by Ken Mcgrath ... i studied the geometric atttibutes of the reverse and found several indications of the use of PHI, the Golden Ratio and the Golden Rectangle. a couple of those - the sum of the 2 sides in ratio to the base gives you PHI (or something very close depending on the accuracy of the measurement lol). if you take the length of 1 side, and draw a square on the reverse, and use the properties of the golden rectangle .. draw all the elements of the rectangle from each point .... using this will pinpoint the location of the circles the pyramid and the eagle live in this was a very awsome contest RickieB!!! i learned alot ... and have a cool book to boot this was alot of fun!
Daggar, I am confused on how the golden spirals connect to the Golden Ratio. Do you know how they connect?
I am impressed with the work you guy's have put into this! Dagger, Greg and Spock1 never gave up! Great job guy's!! RickieB
the golden spiral is created out of the golden rectangle, not necesarily the golden ratio. The golden ratio is used in the creation of the golden rectangle with a base side of 1. from what i saw in the diagram in the book, Ken mcgrath used indescriminate pioints in the creation of the golden spiral in the book. He used the 'inner rectangle' as points, but then used an offset line in the creation of everything else ... i will need to read up on that some more, but dont see how it really ties into anything other then - hey, it fits lol
here is a decent site explaining the golden spiral a bit and how it is derived using the golden rectangle... any other questions just ask i am by no means an expert on the subject!!! I have an Architectural degree, and we did study the golden ration, golden rectangle and the golden spiral extensively - espescially when studying the greeks. Also when i was taken Calc 3 in college, we played around with the golden elements a bit .... but that was a decade ago
