I just recently joined PCGS, gold membership, so I'm still learning the submission process. Got the forms filled and labels printed, the shipping is in question...

Best to save your money and spend it on a few good coin books and more coins.

Ive got a pile of proof nickels that were thrown in various orders over the years. Most are giveaways.

Any chance you want to say how much you bought them for?

Why so quick with the grading service when you admittedly are just starting out?

Learn first then worry about grading when you obtain very high grade examples or rare coins.

You are going to burn through money slabbing common coins. Now matter how nice they look.

I got the lot for $5, there were about 20 coins, a box of cigars and some stamps.
Soooo, you can do the math...
    Not a bad price.

Not a bad haul for $5 bucks. Great way to get introduced to the hobby.

I’m intrigued by the cigars... are they dried out?

I have been "collecting" Jeffersons for year, not seriously and have never really put effort into learning the facts..
These are by far the nicest nickels of any year that I have seen.
Granted, I've only ever collected from circulation and never bought coins...

Haven't opened them but the hubby got dibs.... Sorry.

Ahh, I don’t want to buy them, just curious what they are. Big Cigar fan.

You must have made some mistakes when completing the form. You called PRF nickels UNC... and don’t expect any high grades. Sorry to rain on your parade.

That’s exactly what you should consider doing next ;-)

Not a problem, I appreciate the input.
I have to disagree about not getting a high grade, the have no flaws and atleaat one has a great patina....

I hope you are wrong anyway...

That's part of the reason for being here, the learning experience and talking with others who are interested in this great hobby. Never really had others to talk to and I have decided I am going to dive in.
    Great talking with you!

How long you been collecting Sarah? Unless you've more than a few years under your belt you don't want to be submitting stuff to TPG'ers. They'll eat you alive with the submission costs........Ya want it graded, buy it graded........and these examples in plastic would cost you a lot less than your submitting them........

    Welcome to the forum. :)

At least some coins you posted are proofs and none of them are flawless. Good luck with your first submission. Don’t be disappointed with the results... the first one is always a learning experience.

I've got 4 free submissions still, the other fees not included in the vouchers amount to about $100, even if I am unable to get a premium price for them, they will be a valued part of my collection.
They are the most beautiful coins I have seen and have no flaws as far as I can see.
Even if I can get a premium price for them, I may still keep them.

Without sounding like I'm speaking from both sides of my mouth. ..Jeffersons are fun to collect a fairly easy set to put together in any grade. I have 2 MS set complete as well a proof registery set.. I have just about every major ,and minor variety known for the series.
However in coin collecting they aren't in demand as other series are.
They in some cases loose value case in point the 1939 double die reverse.
I sold one years ago in MS 65 for around $1500. And very glad I did as I replaced it for hundreds less. The coin gods smiled on me....but that does not always happen.
Now the other side yes there are some dates, mint marks ,full step nickels who do command high dollars.
But one really needs to do ones homework....research ,and read.
If you are collecting to make money by flipping coins.....you MUST know what you're doing!
Without the right knowlege one can really end up in big trouble.
Buy the book before the coin, there's so many web sites that one can harvest the information needed...But again like the stock market the coin market has its ups and downs.
Every member here at one time or another has made mistakes....no matter if the admit it or not!
    Even "experts" make mistakes.....
Again I cannot stress enough one must understand that this hobby is more than placing shinny disc in a holder.
It is a great hobby that I've been involved in since age 7....at 65 I still don't know it all....but what I do know is knowlege is power in life....and collecting.
If you really do enjoy this hobby learn to crawl before running.
That way if you do fall it will be less painful to your wallet.
Google is your friend it will lead you to sites and information on just about any series. Great free data yours for the taking...good luck

I can assure you, any flaws percieved in the pictures are the plastic cover and are not on the coin, the only flaws on these coins are going to be from the mint....
If they are still at home, I will take better pictures outside of the holders and post here..
