Either this guy is joking, or my info-auction did NOT go well at all! lol link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120237342664&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123 his message: "We searched the coins that you sent today.and i just wanted to let you know i have never in my 35 years of collecting coins.seen so much junk in all my life.Every coin is worthless.Scratched,Dents Worn down,.Your ad was also very deceptive and got past one of my buyers. We will be sure to notify others of your practices on ebay.We will also be making a claim with paypal for a full refund for item not received as described. You should be ashamed for the way you wrote this ad and your feedback from us will show others to beware. The Coinoisseur of Coins" I have a feeling he might be joking... but, I took him seriously, since you never know! I think he might because: 1) he said in his 35 years, he's probably seen tons of junk. and 2) its a great over-exaggeration of what was sent. lol but we'll see :vanish:
Your link will prolly get whacked for rules, I'll repost it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120237342664&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123 Thats what you get when you do info auctions, I have had my share of hate mail as well, but not from a buyer, just lookers. It is the shysters that sells those crooked rolls, they have to buy too yannow, and have accounts other than the sell account. Be careful, I stopped after having as little fun, as I changed my mind and decided the fun was not worth risking negs. Be on top of those bidders, and see where they have been and what they buy, if you smell a rat, block the bidder, but too much trouble for me. I quit.
I notice he bid with only 3 seconds to go in the auction. It wouldn't surprize me that in a hurry to win he only read the first paragraph and missed the whole object of the listing.
Geez Magman, I know for a fact the VDB was worth half the bid. Maybe because I sent it to you? Have you emailed him back yet. If he's kidding it's a bad joke. If he's serious it's an even worse joke. Your auction was within all of the ebay rules AND informative. Keep us posted - we may just want to invite this guy over here. Lots to say but holding off for now. clembo
Well, he's not joking. He sent me a new message, and a "significantly not as described" case. here's what he said - i'll clip some of it out to give you the good stuff "The coins will go out tomorrow with a tracking number. We will be going through paypal to make the claim. Yes I have other people who buy for me who obviously need to learn how to read beyond the description.Your description was deceptive. You only get the full story about you saying the description was wrong as you read your full ad.That in my opinion is deceptive as well.Perhaps you should just try the truth in your description. So for all these reasons we feel as a good standing powerseller of ebay we will warn others of your practices. Its just a shame that people like yourself ruin it for the honst people who buy and sell on ebay.Look for the claim in your paypal account and follow the directions from there. The Coinoisseur of Coins" Im going to challenge the dispute though... if I can.
That's a shame. I don't know how you could've have been more clear in the description about what was being recieved and that you were being satirical with your story. Is there anything we at the CT can do to inform the buyer of you infoauction?
yeah, oye. Im going to write a message in the paypal dispute thing, and then escalate it to a claim. I think thats my best bet, do you all agree?
Yes, counter claim. You ad was in NO WAY deceptive. Not in any way. You clearly stated what was in there.
Duh! Maybe if he learned to read a whole description before bidding he wouldn't get into such trouble.
Yup... Apparently he has people buy for him, so it was the fault of his friend/purchaser. but regardless. Also, I like how he says that its people like me that ruin it for the honest people on Ebay... :headbang:
you might get this settles in your favor .. but then risk getting a neg from him .. is it worth it? BTW .. i do think you are in the right!
he was going to Neg me anyway, since he said "I'll let everyone know" I could settle this, and ask him for a positive, or neutral...
The only problem I saw was the Title. The "lol" is not clearly defined (most peeps know what it means but not all) and it's that which could cost you the claim. Drop the "lol" out of the title and the ad is deceptive and that was what the buyer was referring to (I think). If you would have said "just kidding" or "just joking" or something written out instead of abbreviated, then you would have a solid footing for disputing the claim but if the buyer claims he had no idea what "lol" meant, you will probably lose the claim. Other than that, there wasn't anything wrong with your auction. I thought it was very truthful (but I know what "lol" means and I read the entire ad). And, as a side note, I accessed an item just before it closed and thought it was something it wasn't but didn't have enough time to read the entire ad, quickly place my bid and won, then afterwards I finished reading the ad and "caught" what it was but it was too late. I paid for it, received it (yuck), and never complained. With that, you may be able to use that as a defense (didn't take the time to read the ad, which is the buyer's responsibility). It might save you. Ribbit, Toad :smile
Deceptive? Here's an auction from this magnificent seller. http://cgi.ebay.com/2007-JEFFERSON-...yZ149688QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem "BECAUSE GRADING IS NOT AN EXACT SCIENCE.I FURNISH A PICTURE FOR YOU AND I PLEASE ASK THAT YOU USE YOUR BEST JUDGEMENT IN ENTERING ANY TYPE OF BID ON THIS ITEM " Anyone care to venture a grade. I know I ALWAYS grade by rim detail. "THESE ERRORS ARE FROM THE HARRISONBURG ,PA N.F. & SON INC BANK ROLL BOX MARKED JULY 2nd 2007 CWI #103 INSPECTED BY # 4716" Can he prove this? Wow, I'm really feeling deceived. I'll have one of my trained chimps bid so I can tell the world what a scammer this guy is.
This is true, and I realized that. Although unfortunately I didnt have room to write "joking" or something, and i think "j/k" would have been more obscure to some people - so I figured "lol" is my best bet. But the subtitle too. I mean... CMON! Einsteins Patent office?! Its supposed to be ridiculous. And, if you know your history, you know that he got a job there in 1903, and left around 1909... and how would he get a roll of wheat cents anyway? We're talking about Switzerland... but anyway... lol <--- oops. We'll see what Paypal determines. If they say I lose, and have to refund, alright. But if I win, I dont think Im gonna give this guy a refund, UNLESS he says that he wont neg me. I'd rather lose and him neg me, than I be correct, and neg me still. ya know? nice link Clembo, haha
