OP . The best way to match your coin to the variety sites, is to match your images ( One Cent ) to their images . Otherwise, everything is just a shot in the dark . Also, pay attention to the right side, of the memorial ..
I am trying to match them, but sometimes the doubling on one part matches and another does not... Is it possible that some of the doubling is actually MD? And another part is truly doubled? Can it also be possible I found a different die state that has not been pictured?
Yeah.... I seen. Been comparing them one by one.... Have not found an exact match. Checked coppercoins, variety vista. Now checking wexlers.
@Salvador Rocha @Rick Stachowski Here is a helpful diagram showing the distinction between MD and a doubled die. Again your doubling looks flat and like it "cuts into" the letter rather than adds to it. That is the main diagnostic I am going by. https://errorvariety.com/OFD/images/MDD_b2.jpg Here's another good diagram. http://www.coppercoins.com/temp/diagram_of_doubling.jpg
Thank you..... These diagrams are very helpful....saved them on my device and will be my go to pics when i am in doubt. Thanks to everybody for your help.
Yeah, unfortunately it looks like an MD because of the flat, shelf-like appearance and the lack of split serifs. Still a cool find though. However, over the past year, a small market for MDs has started to grow, so I would keep it if I were you. Keep searching though. You'll find one eventually. Keep in mind that doubling isnt the only thing you can search for. Also search for key date rpms and omms as well as 1992 and 1992 d close am and the 1998, 1999, and 2000 Wide ams. Good luck!
