masterswimmer A Caretaker, can't take it with me

    Long story short.
My uncle passed away. I found a cigar box packed with dollar bills. I thought nothing of it since I had no inkling he collected anything other than Bradford Exchange garbage.

The cigar box with the contents has been sitting here untouched for over four years since his passing. I decided it was time to look through it before spending the singles.

Lo and behold it becomes apparent my uncle saved singles that were for the most part 'interesting'. Here are a couple of the web notes that jumped out at me.

    1988A series
Please correct me if I'm wrong. I thought that series is web. I'm VERY new to paper currency.

There’s an active thread here on CT that will show you some of the characteristics of Web notes ; https://www.cointalk.com/threads/my-first-web-note.339792/

There are web notes in this series, but most notes of this series aren't webs.

Of the notes you posted, the only web note is the A06000600F. Which is awesome, by the way; a binary repeater web note is not the sort of thing one sees every day...!

    Nice! I have a 1988A binary $1 note (ONLY 3s and 1s).
You have some really cool notes, and, I would save as many as I could.
1988A notes are getting harder and harder to find, partially because of age, and I keep every single 1980s $1 note I come across, even if it's in slightly rough shape.

There was 1 web note with the correct back plate number position.
The ones in the standard position are not web notes.
Which is why I asked to see the reverse in an earlier post.

Nice looking cigar box. There are some nice bills that you posted. Even though it's been four years I'm sorry for your loss.

Thank you all for your guidance and tutelage. I believe I'm more schooled on web notes now. I'll check the rest of the bills for more. Since I had no clue what to look for I passed over hundreds of other potential notes. Virtually the entire box is 1988A series.

    Thanks again.

Understood. However, these bills cost me zero. All part of an inheritance. Besides, I never asked about market value. Nor did I even ask if any were keepers or spenders. Just a thread to showcase my discoveries.

But thanks for the reminder ;)

I completely understand. My greatest numismatic treasure is an 1887-O Morgan Dollar in good condition. It was my first old coin given to me by my dad. It got me started on a great hobby.

I know you'll always treasure that coin above all others.
