I would say it kow end uncirculated but not in anyway Beautiful Uncirculated. As there are those odd dark areas.

Edit to add WHAT THE HELL is that spot on the right by the rim?

    THE GOOD NEWS: It's a 1955 DDO.

THE BAD NEWS: It's not a BU. I don't even think it's UNC.
Probably okay to grade as AU "DETAILS".

And I'm no expert, but IMO that's PVC damage.
Could be verdigris, but I'll stick with PVC.

So that means that the coin would absolutely have to be "conserved".
Why? Because the coin's condition will only get worse.

So maybe the coin has XF value meaning the current bid is about right (maybe $100 more.)

But my view is "Why buy a problem coin?"

Those dark areas are wear on the high points.

I wouldn't buy it because of that spot near the rim, and the blatant overgrading.

You'd have to be a fool to bid in this auction. Anyone of us here from novice to expert can clearly see that the coin isnt Brilliant Uncirculated. I noticed that the seller has Choice Brilliant Uncirculated on the flip. What a joke.

It probably "is" an Uncirculated coins but it appears that it was stord in the ground out in the back yard for safe keeping.

    Certainly not CHOICE.

Don't get me worry I'd love to have it as is.

I clearly see wear on it, not sure how you can get even MS-60 Bn out of it. EF obverse, AU reverse.

I think I need my eye's checked. lol It looked to me as ugly toning spots. I do see some tiny dings on the rim by the date. Judging from the picture's I would call them bag marks. But Ok, I will agree that its HIGH END AU at least. But either way this seller is a blowhole and he is being very misleading.

Again WHAT IS THE UGLY SPOT?

That spot at 3 o'clock is nasty.

just find a nicer one, this coin isn't all that rare, there must be at least 5,000 of them around.

That seller always overgrades their coins. Probably an Estate Buyer/Seller in real life. :goof:

Problem coins are always problems, it should go about $1100...Fine bid retail I'd only pay about $750

The coin is just not attractive overall, not hard to find a nice one if you got the $$$ to spend. All are going to be on the high end of the grading scale. Probably way more MS-65 Red than Fine or below exist.

You can wait for the right one to come along, this isn't a 1913 v-nickel, there are a lot of these 55 DDO cents without problems.

Exactly. These did not circulate, they were yanked as curiositys quickly and the price spread is inaccurate, sort of like the 31-S, expensive in any grade, so why buy ugly?

Thanks everyone. It's good to see that I'm not crazy or need glasses. I do wear contacs though.Anyway, I don't know if you guys do it but I look at auctions and compare the coins to my own.You know, to see what condition they're in and what they're going for. I just didn't see Brilliant Uncirculated there. But while we're at it heres mine. How about you guys giving me your opinion on the grade. It'a a little dirty but I don't think I'll be cleaning it anytime soon. Thanks, John
