Recently I came into possession of a coin that I thought at first glance was a dime until I got home. It's roughly the same size as a dime but it has the appearance of a quarter (more specific a 1776-1976 quarter, the one with the drummer on the back). The lettering is super tiny so I have a hard reading it but I think it says copy on it. What is this coin?
a novelty token. I think I see "COPY" behind the neck. I couldn't find a small one as an example, but here's a BIG one from eBay.
a "COPY" token is not a real coin. it's a design copy, copy signifying it has no value for commerce like real coins do.
