I thought to take a chance... it’s the dead Canadian penny and my birth year to boot! Shipping wasn’t so debilitating and I have been buying a few proof coins from this dealer and have been satisfied. My gut instinct says they cherrypicked their rolls and rewrapped the garbage to sell for the almighty profit!

Before I tell this dealer he lost a customer I need your advice.

This absolutely wasn’t a mint nor bank wrap, it was taped up on one end. My question... for the coin’s’ age, would the damage be not surprising and would it be suspicious or expected that every coin bear the same type of spotting and such?

If it was taped on thee end you can almost guaranty that roll has been searched and re-rolled.

Question: did the seller show all those photos in the listing?

He dumped his garbage on you. I would file not as describe case on ebay and leave negative feed back . Paddy does not play with dishonest people and has no problem calling them out in front of God and everyone else!
Those coins are damaged and only worth face.

No, these are my photos. The only photo the seller provided was the roll which I added to photo one along with their description.

Thanks for clarifying. I just wanted to ask before giving my opinion. It's very clear that he searched UNC rolls, pulled out the gems, packed up the rest and sold them. Now unfortunately, the coins you have might still be UNC, just ugly for UNC. I'd never do business with them again and make clear in my comments that they've been picked through. You can also rate the product itself (do not talk about the seller or they'll delete your comment, just say product not as described, picked through).

One thing I never do is buy rolls of coins off of eBay. The only time I did this was when I was younger and spent about $10 on a roll of buffalo nickels that were supposed to be full date and partial dates. However, the roll as you guessed was entirely no date slicks forever leaving a sour taste buying rolled coins online. Last October one of my local coin dealers who sells foreign coins by the pound had two solid rolls of BU 1964 Canadian Pennies in his foreign box. Moreover, these coins didn't have the problems yours have and I only paid $2.00 for the rolls.

Garlicus Debt is dumb, cash is king.

I would probably write the buyer, and ask for a refund, because based on the implication in the listing pic, the roll of coins were unopened shotgun rolls, not searched rolls that were taped on one end.

I would also throw in ‘it’s not the $10, it’s principle of the matter that you posted a deceitful picture with your ad to get my $10. I have purchased from you before, without any issue, any may be inclined to purchase from you again, but not if this is how you handle your listings and customers’.

Would I buy from him again? Wouldn’t be that butt hurt not to. If there is something I want that he has at a better price than elsewhere, I probably would. But it would have to be more than a few percentage points of savings. And I would be sure to inspect his listing and ask follow up questions, if necessary.

That’s my 2 Canadian cents on the matter

This is why I took pics of every coin, I was thinking to forward them to him/her whatever. I was liking this dealer, in Alberta... free shipping on most items, items that I liked etcetera. I’m gonna have to wait a 7 day period before giving a negative report. At least there is a 30 day return policy.

I found the listing last night, but am unable to find it today...

If I remember right, eBay had their guarantee in the listing as well
