Found this quater today it is clearly an error seems to me after weighing it that some how a nickel blank made it in to the dye which created this very unique 1982 quarter I googled 1982 errors and found no match new to this site this is by far the best error coin I have found without using a magnifying device to see the error which there are several on both sides and rim
Personally, I can’t discern too much by your photos. If I had to guess by them, I’d say post mint damage. How much does it weigh? Take a photo with it beside a normal coin on a flat surface and, if I may... don’t handle your coins that way, oil from your touch will produce more post mint damage!
I voted "real deal" because it's a real quarter. That's all. There wasn't a "post-mint damage" option in the poll.
If it was a nickel blank it would stack perfectly with other nickels. If it was a nickel blank it would weigh 5.0 grams. If it was a nickel blank the numbers and letters on the edge would be almost missing because of the size difference between a nickel and a quarter. There would be almost no quarter rim at all. If it was a nickel blank it would be 25% nickel/ 75% copper.
